Re: Long-term arthritic pain

My son had KD 10 years ago at age 5. Greg has suffered with horrible joint pain for the last 10 years. When he was diagnosed with KD he could not even walk due to the horrible pain in his legs. We have been to the same types of dr.s as you have. No one has ever been able to help him. He has tried di...

Re: Just wondering, what would you do?

Sorry to hear of your concern. I know how frightening it is. My son is 10 years post KD. He still gets episodes of red eyes, lips and of course the peeling hands and feet. According to what the KD experts have told me is that it really is of no concern as long as they are not running a temp. If you ...

Re: Stress Test

Hi Sandy, So good to hear from you again too. I think of you and Paige often. Sorry to hear about the calcifying aneurysms. Ugh! It is hard it imagine that our kids are growing up so fast. Could it really be 10 years since this whole nightmare started and we began on this roller coaster ride. Greg g...

Re: Question - Red Eyes Again

Some of the symptoms do linger after KD but I would call the dr. and let them know. If the fever returns and if it is over 101 contact your childs dr right away. They may want to see him and rerun labs. Good luck and please keep us updated.

Stress Test

HI everyone, It has been a long time since I have been on this site. My son Gregory had KD 10 years ago at age 5. He had no heart related issues but many ongoing problems after KD. He still sees his cardiologist every couple of years for echo and EKG. His pulse rate has been running high around 170 ...

Re: prolonged fever and cold symptoms

Chances are not KD but keep an eye on her. If temps stay elevated ask for a repeat labs.

Forgot to add that cardiac changes can occur up to 6-8 weeks post KD.

Re: New here - no diagnosis yet

Since there was even a possibility of KD I am surprised that they did not start him on low dose aspirin at least until the next echo. He did have an elevated seed rate and some Kd symptoms. Children over the age of 5 often present with atypical symptoms. Talk to your dr. About the possibility of tak...

Re: Skin Peeling Question

Hi Beth, 11 percent of KD kids will have recurring peeling post KD. Why this happens no one really knows. It does seem to be the kids with less coronary involvement that have this lingering affect. It is not something to worry about at all. My son is 8 years post KD and still peels on his hands and ...

Re: Is KD a Military Disqualifying Medical Condition?

I would contact a recruiter and ask about all of these questions. Things change so fast. Just 5 years ago or so no one would even believe KD was autoimmune or that kids who had no heart involvement needed any further evaluation past the 8 week mark. We all know differently now. Hopefully you can get...

Re: Could this be KD?

They need to check his Sed rate and CRP levels. These both show inflammation in their bodies. I would like to see you take him to the nearest children's hospital and have him evaluated. Blood work for both of these should be done and I would push for an echocardiogram. KD can go away on its own. The...

Re: 3 years after

We have been struggling with the same thing for over 8 years now. Right now my son is going through a really rough patch. Feet are so swollen he can barley stand up. Knees and ankles are sore and swollen. I am sure the peeling is just around the corner. He just got over a major sinus infection. Afte...
