Re: Reoccuring High Fevers

McBadke, Dr. Hoffman and his team at UCSD have been researching PFAPA Syndrome. There is suspicion that some children may develope PFAPA after Kawasaki Disease. Although thought to be harmless, PFAPA can disrupt a young persons daily activities, as you mentioned missed school days. Undignosed PFAPA ...

Re: Tell me your lasting affects from KD

Hi TreD-feetKD, Having a baby home from the hospital soon after a KD diagnosis is difficult. You can't help but to worry and to keep constant watch over them. Some "mouth breathers" actually have asthma. The next time you talk to his Pediatrician you could discuss with him/her your concerns. Please ...

Re: Fingers Still Peeling

Hi Deseray, Thanks for attaching the picture of your son. He looks great for having just been through so much. There are some people who complain of skin peeling years post KD. It is not considered a result of KD past the initial dx but, you still hear about it - and we are still learning about the ...

Re: LIFELONG FOLLOW-UP CARE FOR ALL

Roswell,

It is encouraging to hear that your son is doing well in college despite his medical challenges. Does he live on campus? Has he experienced any learning difficulties? My sons Pediatrician told me a long time ago the "KDkids are tough!" He is right.

Re: KD diagnosis without fever?

cjfjlf, Glad to read that your son is feeling better and that he had clean Echo's. I also, hope that your older son is well and that he was not wrongly diagnosed. Including what mbrennan suggested; installing hardwood flooring, replace curtians with vinyl blinds, rid of all stuffed animals, purchase...

Re: PFAPA Syndrome

CarrieAnn, Fantastic that your son had the proper diagnosis and treatment for PFAPA. Very encouraging! It takes a strong kid and a very supportive family to make it through so many years of illness and spiking fevers with NO answers as to why. During your sons initial 8 days of fever, did he have an...

Re: Stomach Issues

Momcat, Did you get the results on the celiac work up for Paige? Was it blood work only or did she also have a biopsy? Has she gone to the Gastro. or have you stayed with her Ped.? Recently, I have been researching the association between KD and CD. I came across the article you posted a few years b...

Re: HARRY'S STORY

Karen, I can understand why strangers would think your son suffered from burns. His rash is severe. To have a symptom of KD present itself so dramatically and yet others not at all, I have wondered if KD is mutating. Sublevels other than simply "complete" or "incomplete". One must wonder, why is it ...

Re: Genetic Febril Disorder Theory

Liquidambar, A tonnsillectomy for children with PFAPA have had mixed results. Some children improve greatly, for others the duration of the fevers are shortened, and yet with others there is no improvement. You are left to wonder if the surgery is an effective treatment or are the children naturally...
