Contact Sports after KD

My son was diagnosed at about 3 months of age, he is turning 7 next month. He did have aneurysms after the ivig treatment and is and has been on a daily aspirin regiment, we are being told that he will need to go through stress testing once he turns 12 to make sure he can participate in contact spor...

Re: 18 Years after KD...

Chrissymack, thanks so much for your story. It is great to hear about someone who has led a very normal existence since KD, that seems to be somewhat rare on here. Also rare, but also our sons story is no Asian blood. Our son was diagnosed at 3 months he is now 3 years and if you spent a week with h...

Re: We had Kevin's annual cardiology visit today and...

Hi Nancy, the tests were done by different techs and read by the same peds cardiologist who said there is a chance they didn't get great pictures or views last year but she doesn't think that is the case.

We had Kevin's annual cardiology visit today and...

after a "normal" echo last year, today's showed dilation. To our knowledge there has been no re-occurrence and we have never heard of the echo going from dilated to normal then back to dilated. We just don't understand what could b causing this and neither does our cardiologist. Anyone with similar ...

Night Terrors?

I know not every single characteristic of a post KD child is a result of the KD but my son has some really brutal night terrors, he is 3 years old and had KD at 3 months the night terrors started shortly after we got home from the hospital. Anyone else experience these? Our other child 18 months old...

KD from the fumes of an outboard boat engine?

I'm curious if anyone has heard of this as a possibility? My son is not of Asian descent and we did nor use carpet cleaners prior to his diagnosis at 3 months old. He was however on our boat which admittedly emits significant fumes. This is something I have not stopped thinking about in the 3 years ...

Re: Question on permitted activities with KD

Thank you Alan, was it recent that the aneurysms reduced to normal size?

Re: Question on permitted activities with KD

Nancy,
Thank you that is helpful, we do plan to speak with his peds cardiologist in July. We really want to start helping him develop other interests sooner rather than later if this will be an issue in the future.

Question on permitted activities with KD

My 3 year old was diagnosed as a 3 month old he had 3.7MM and 4MM aneurysms shortly after treatment however since then at his annual visits to cardiaology it seems the worst test show "uppper limit of normal" for size, that is per his cardiologist. He is getting really into playing hockey (in the ho...

KD and our 3.5 month old

Our son was diagnosed with KD at 3 months, he was treated within 5 days of the onset on June 23rd. Since then, he had an echo two weeks ago (one week after treatment) and his coronary ateries were dilated (about 3.5mm), he then had another echo today (3 weeks after IVIG treatment) and his coronaries...

Clarification question for the forum....

Is there a difference between a dilated coronary atery and an aneurysm. We were told our son has a coronary dilation of 3.4mm not sure if that means he has an aneurysm?

Re: Loulu A-typical KD @ 3-months

Yes he is on a half a baby asprin daily. Have there been any studies to detemrine how often a dilation of around 3.4mm corrects iteslf, or is it automatic that this will be an ongoing problem now that we have experienced dilation of any kind?

Re: Loulu A-typical KD @ 3-months

Hello, we just came home from the hospital with our 3 month old who was diagnosed with KD. We went for an Echo today (9 days after the first fever) and they said they are concerned that he has dialtion of 3.4mm. Our MD did not provide much info and we didn't have any questions at the ready to ask, b...
