KD Support Groups in AK?

After my daughter was diagnosed this past December I decided to write a letter to my local Mayor and Governor in hopes of getting Kawasaki Disease Awareness day recognized here in Alaska. I received a return call from the Mayor's office today and they are excited to be a part of it. They, as well as...

Re: worry about my baby

My 2 year old daughter was diagnosed on 12/15/11. I agree that symptoms still being present are normal. My daughter had a total of 2 IVIG treatments, 4 IV steroid treatments, and is now home and continuing both Aspirin and steroid treatment. She is doing much better however, she is still irritable, ...

Re: 4 months post KD/ long term side effects

My 2 year old daughter was diagnosed in December. She, too, is weak, whiny, and complains of body and stomach pain. However, she is still on the steroid treatment. Not sure if this could be a side effect of that. She is also more sensitive to the cold which is hard considering we live in Alaska. She...

Re: swollen eyelids/ behaviour issues 4 months on

My daughter is about a month out post KD diagnosis. As of now, there are no issues with her behavior besides being somewhat irritable although she is still on steroid treatment which could be causing that as well. However, when she over-exerts herself physically it seems some of her symptoms reappea...

Re: better without treatment?

Like earlier mentioned, KD symptoms do clear on their own whether treated with IVIG or Aspirin or not. It is a good thing they decided to do an Echo. The heart is the main concern with this disease. Make sure they continue to monitor the heart. You said they did blood work and the white blood cell c...

Re: What now? please help!

My daughter is about a month out from her KD diagnosis. We have excellent doctors who have followed up with her, including more blood work, frequently. She is still on the steroid and Aspirin treatment. She does still complain of pain. From the stories I have read, information I have gathered, and d...

Re: Need advice my son has kd

I agree. Keep him in. If you don't feel comfortable, voice it. Our daughter was in the hospital for over a week. They wanted to make sure she was eating and drinking enough to sustain herself. I was fine with that. I would rather keep her in a day too long then send her home too early and have to ha...

Aubrey's Story

Aubrey is 2 1/2 years old. She began with a fever on the evening of 12/13/11. I did the typical parent thing and started her on Tylenol to help bring it down. It never broke, just fluctuated between 101-105 degrees. The next afternoon, on 12/14, was when her eyes began turning red a swelling and her...
