Both my daughters were diagnosed with KD last February. They were admitted in the hospital and had the IMG administered. A year later my now 9 year daughter develops a cluster of little pimples on her tongue. They went away within a few days. However 3 days afterwards she was telling me that she couldn't taste anything on the right side of her tonogue. Over 4 days this progressed to paralysis of the right side of her face. We took her to the ER and they said it was from an ear infection........she hasn't had an ear infection in years. They completely dismissed me and sent us home. I've done my own research and found that Bell's Palsy is closely related to the herpes virus, which is what my girls had all over their lips, mouth, tongues and throat when they were sick last year. I know it's not completely unheard of for a child to suffer from Bell's Palsy, but I feel there is a connection here somehow. Has anyone else encountered this problem with child after being effected with KD???
Some insight from people who have experienced this would be very helpful. I'm following up with our Vasculitus specialist today, but do I sound crazy?
Please offer advice or comment.
